BUSINESS JOURNALIST

The role
ausbiz is searching for a journalist who understands and enjoys business news and specifically financial markets. The ideal ausbiz team member has ideas, enjoys building networks, is able to write and communicate efficiently and effectively, and is comfortable using new technologies. We're looking for someone who will actively help develop their role as ausbiz continues to grow.

Job description
You will book expert guests, build news bulletins and execute them live, and transform live content into clever VOD and social media video. The role includes editing, publishing and managing content on the ausbiz platform and beyond. You will be able to apply editorial judgement to headlines, metadata, thumbnails and the categorisation of video content.

About you
You know the difference between trading and investing (we love both!) and can name the current RBA cash rate setting.  You will be able to easily identify engaging angles that are relevant to our target audiences, and communicate in a strong and consistent voice. You'll be full of creative ideas and digitally agile. Journalists are ausbiz flag-bearers, and are encouraged to develop contacts in the industry. You are a self-starter and you consume all types of relevant digital and social content on a daily basis.

Background
You’ve either worked in finance media in financial markets. You have experience in one or more of the following;

  • Writing copy/scripts about company news or markets

  • Television (news) production

  • Financial PR

  • Digital production/non-linear video editing

  • Live television news reporting

If you can think about the big picture while still rolling up your sleeves to get stuff done, you’re who we’re looking for. For a confidential conversation, please send your CV to team@ausbiz.com.au and we’ll be in touch.

The role is full time and based at Barangaroo in Sydney. Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia.
